Kate Winslet is swapping the limelight and red carpets for ovens and kitchen utensils as she delves into a cookery course in Cork, Ireland that sells for €865 (£742).

The actress, known for her role in the beloved romantic film Titanic, is reportedly dedicating 2.5 days this week to learning from Irish celebrity chef Rachel Allen, 52.

During her stay, Kate has been accommodated at the luxurious four-star Ballymaloe House, where prices for a classic double room start at around £360 per night.

She’s been able to enjoy the comforts of Ballyshane Coastal Retreats, a private 20-acre compound offering four properties with sea views and easy access to sandy beaches, as reported by the Irish Examiner.

Locals have allegedly spotted the Hollywood star, accompanied by her husband Edward Abel Smith and chef Allen, in the nearby village of Ballycotton.

In the sold-out course Cooking for Family and Friends at Ballymaloe Cookery School, Allen instructs participants on preparing both meat and vegetarian dishes, covering a range of culinary delights from starters to soups, salads, stews, puddings, and beyond.

The course also offers participants a comprehensive tour of the organic farm, gardens, dairy, and greenhouses, which supply much of the seasonal produce used in the demonstrations.

Attendees have the opportunity to cook two to four dishes from each demonstration and observe activities such as cow milking, sourdough bread baking, and produce gathering.

Allen, a familiar face on BBC‘s Saturday Kitchen, and a judge and co-host on the Irish television series The Restaurant in 2019, leads the course.

She then uncovered her third great-grandmother Eliza O’Brien’s roots in Dublin, who had 11 children on her paternal side.

In a recent revelation, the actress disclosed that her sudden fame after starring in Titanic in 1997 transformed her “very normal life” into a “traumatic” rollercoaster.

During an appearance on Sunday Sitdown, Winslet confessed to struggling with the spotlight in Hollywood following the blockbuster film, which also featured Leonardo DiCaprio, as she wasn’t accustomed to such attention.

Following the success of Titanic, she admitted having a normal life quickly became “inaccessible” and she struggled to have “fun” and enjoy her stardom.
